Alta Vista Elementary School issued the following announcement on Aug. 26
Dear parents,
This will be a school year unlike any other, as we work to provide our students with a high-quality education, while also protecting them from the coronavirus pandemic.
I am reaching out today to ask you for your help in keeping our students and staff members safe.
If your child has been tested for coronavirus, please do not send your child to school until you receive a negative test result. Please notify your school about the situation so that arrangements can be made for your child to participate in online learning.
If a member of your household has tested positive, please do not send your child to school, and call the Florida Department of Health at 863-519-7911 for further direction.
Again, if your child has been tested for coronavirus, please do not send your child to school until you receive a negative test result.

In addition, please continue practicing healthy hygiene habits, including wearing face coverings, practicing social distancing, washing your hands with soap and warm water, and using hand sanitizer.
Working together, we can stop the spread of coronavirus.
Thank you for your cooperation. Let’s have a happy – and healthy – school year!
Sincerely,
Superintendent Jacqueline M. Byrd
