CITY OF AUBURNDALE: Commission Day

Project1

City Of Auburndale issued the following announcement on Aug. 10.

Today was Commission Day, a special function of the City Commission to take a tour of the City of Auburndale and view projects that are either completed or in progress. The tour is planned between the first and second readings of the annual city budget.

The Commission Day tour first stopped at the Cindy Hummel Tennis Center to look at the new racquetball courts, which were completed in February of this year. Then the Commission visited the Bridgers Avenue Stormwater Project that Polk County is currently working to complete.

A trip over to the Lake Myrtle area brought the City Commission to the Cabana Club Resort, a new vacation spot situated next to the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex and the Elite Cable Park. After a tour of the Cabana Club’s facilities, the Commission headed north where the Florida Department of Transportation and Florida's Turnpike Enterprise is working on the creation of an interchange to the Polk Parkway from Braddock Road, along with various improvements to both of those roadways.

Next, the Commission went to the SunTrax Testing Facility for an update on the development of the infield and a look at the toll system testing that is currently in operation at the site. From there, the Commission reached their final stop at the Polk County Tourism and Sports Marketing HQ (Lake Myrtle Sports Complex) for a lunch meeting that featured a presentation by Joe Minicozzi of Urban3 and an update on the Lakes District Master Plan.

Speaking of which there is a Community Open House for the Lakes District tomorrow night, August 10, at the Auburndale Civic Center, starting at 6:00 PM!
