City Of Lakeland issued the following announcement on Aug. 17.
It’s Toby Tuesday!
The City of Lakeland Lakes and Stormwater would like to thank the The Republican Club of Lakeland for their recent cleanup along a section of East Parker Street.
The storm drains along East Parker Street drain directly to Lake Parker. This road is heavily traveled, and unfortunately, litter from pedestrians and motorists can accumulate along the sides of the road. This litter gets washed into the storm drains during rain events and easily travels through the storm drain system, ending in our lakes and waterways.
Removing litter before reaching the lake is imperative in helping to protect wildlife and water quality. You, too, can become one of Toby’s Water Warriors by throwing trash in a garbage can and not out the car windows or on the ground. We appreciate the Republican Club of Lakeland for all their hard work and time to help keep East Parker Street clean!
