Proclamation: ACHIEVEMENT ACADEMY DAY IN LAKELAND

CELEBRATING 25 YEARS OF SUCCESS

AS A PUBLIC CHARTER SCHOOL

Present to receive the Proclamation is Kristin Aiken, President/CEO of the Achievement Academy and charter program members.

WHEREAS Achievement Academy has served Lakeland since 1955 when parents saw a void in therapy services for children and founded United Cerebral Palsy, which then changed its name to the Child Development Center and then ultimately became the Achievement Academy in 2004; and 

WHEREAS it serves the community through two distinct programs: the Birth to Three Early Intervention Program and the fully accredited ESE (Exceptional Student Education) Charter Pre-Kindergarten. Between these two programs, the Achievement Academy serves more than 300 infants and children in Polk County each year; and 

WHEREAS the highly skilled Birth to Three Team provides in-home, early intervention services to infants and toddlers throughout Polk County, working directly with the child and their caregiver to help at-risk children overcome developmental delays and achieve appropriate milestones; and 

WHEREAS the ESE Charter Pre-Kindergarten Team provides specialized expert instruction, small class sizes, individual speech, occupational and physical therapies, and assistive technologies enabling students to reach their full potential by serving children ages 18 months through five years old who have one or more special needs; and

WHEREAS the Achievement Academy became a public charter school in 1997, becoming one of the first charter schools in the State of Florida and is currently Polk County’s longest established Charter School and it provides early intervention and therapies that can change the trajectory of a child’s educational path by preparing them for a successful future; and 

WHEREAS August 11, 2022, will be the 25th Anniversary of the Achievement Academy welcoming students as a Polk County ESE Charter Pre-K continuing its mission which is:

Empowering children to achieve their maximum potential

by best preparing them for their education and future.
