Rep. Scott Franklin (FL-18) has expressed his support for a formal impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden. In a statement, Franklin cited the House Judiciary and Oversight Committee's investigations which have allegedly uncovered evidence of President Biden's involvement in a foreign influence peddling scheme conducted by his family.
"I strongly support an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden," Franklin stated. He further emphasized that the committee's findings include "official bank records, personal communications, and the testimony of credible whistleblowers" that indicate President Biden lied to the American people regarding his knowledge and extent of involvement in the alleged scheme.
Franklin criticized the administration's dismissal of these allegations, stating that they have been met with a dismissive attitude of "nothing to see here" and a lack of cooperation. He highlighted Hunter Biden's defiance of a lawful subpoena for a deposition as an example of the administration's noncompliance, which he deemed unacceptable.
To address these concerns and ensure accountability, Franklin voted in favor of H. Res. 918, which formalizes the House's impeachment inquiry. By doing so, he believes that Congress will be empowered to exercise necessary oversight and compel the administration and others to cooperate.
Franklin concluded his statement by asserting that the evidence uncovered thus far is too disturbing to ignore. He emphasized that when allegations reach this level of severity, Congress has a duty to find answers, adding that the American people deserve nothing less.
