Congressman Scott Franklin has issued a statement following the House's approval of the Laken Riley Act. The bill, designated as S. 5, passed with a vote of 263-156 and is now set to be reviewed by the President.

In his statement, Congressman Franklin highlighted the significance of the act, stating, "Tonight’s final passage of the Laken Riley Act underscores Republicans’ commitment to reversing the Biden Administration’s disastrous border policies and putting the safety of Americans first." He emphasized that amendments made by the Senate have strengthened the bill, broadening its scope to include more categories of criminal illegal aliens.

The legislation mandates immediate detention and deportation for illegal aliens who assault law enforcement officers or commit crimes resulting in injury or death. Congressman Franklin expressed his satisfaction with the bipartisan support for the bill, saying, "We must protect our communities and uphold the rule of law, and this bill is a fantastic start."

The Laken Riley Act will proceed to the President's desk for signing into law.
