Scott Franklin emphasizes hurricane readiness with new legislative support

Scott Franklin, a U.S. Congressman representing Florida's 18th district since 2021, has been actively addressing various legislative issues through his social media presence. Born in Thomaston, Georgia, and residing in Lakeland, Franklin brings his experience from the United States Naval Academy and Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University to his political career.

On January 24, 2025, Congressman Scott Franklin highlighted the importance of financial preparedness for natural disasters in Florida. He stated, "We all know it’s important to save for a rainy day – quite literally in Florida, where hurricanes are a fact of life. That’s why I cosponsored @RepLaurelLee’s READY Account Act, which encourages Americans to build mitigation and disaster recovery funds through individual tax-free…".

Later that day, he expressed gratitude towards fellow lawmakers who supported this initiative. In a subsequent tweet posted on January 24, 2025, he acknowledged their contributions by saying: "Thank you to co-sponsors: @TXRandy14, @RepEllzey, @RepHalRogers, @RepGosar, @RepBethVanDuyne, @RepMaryMiller, @RepKeithSelf, @RepBrianBabin,@ RepRutherfordFL,@ RepWebster and@ RepMoolenaar.".

In another post on the same date during the March for Life event, Franklin announced the reintroduction of his bill aimed at closing financial loopholes exploited by abortion providers. He declared: "Today,during March for Life,I reintroduced my bill,the Prohibiting Abortion Industry’s Lucrative Loopholes Act,to stop abortion providers from exploiting loopholes to profit off fetal remains.Congress must eliminate this despicable practice once and for all.".
