Scott Franklin addresses air tragedy and school choice legislation

Congressman Scott Franklin, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Florida's 18th district since 2021, shared his thoughts on various issues through a series of tweets. Franklin, born in Thomaston, Georgia in 1964 and currently residing in Lakeland, graduated from the United States Naval Academy and Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University.

On January 30, 2025, Franklin expressed his condolences regarding a tragic event. "I’m praying for the victims and families of tonight’s tragic midair collision on final approach to Reagan National Airport in DC. It’s a horrible and devastating loss."

Later that day, he announced his support for legislation related to education choice. "I’m happy to cosponsor @RepMoolenaar’s legislation celebrating National School Choice Week. We know giving parents and students the freedom to decide what works best for them leads to success."

On January 31, 2025, Franklin shared news about his new role within the House Science Committee. "I'm honored to be selected as Chairman of the Environment Subcommittee on @housescience! I’m eager to tackle environmental research related to weather forecasting and ensuring disaster readiness. Thank you, Chair @RepBrianBabin, for the opportunity to advance America First…"
