Congressman Scott Franklin, a representative of Florida's 18th district, has utilized social media to address various issues affecting the nation. With a background in the U.S. Navy and having served in the U.S. Congress since 2021, Franklin continues to engage in discussions on military staffing and legislation concerning extreme weather.

On April 8, 2025, Franklin shared insights from a House Appropriations Committee's Military Construction and Veterans Affairs hearing. He highlighted challenges in military recruiting and retention, noting that “1 in 4 soldiers leave in the first two years, medical waivers have doubled, and felony waivers have quadrupled.”

The following day, April 9, Franklin paid homage on National Former Prisoner of War Recognition Day, recognizing the bravery of individuals who “endured unimaginable suffering in service to our country.”

Later on April 9, 2025, Franklin announced the reintroduction of the TAME Extreme Weather and Wildfires Act. This legislation aims to improve forecasting, bolster early warnings, and enhance response times through the use of artificial intelligence, addressing threats posed by extreme weather and wildfires.

Franklin, born in Thomaston, Georgia, in 1964, has completed his education at both the United States Naval Academy and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He now resides in Lakeland and transitioned from the Florida House of Representatives to his current U.S. congressional role, succeeding Ross Spano in 2021.
