Congressman Scott Franklin of Florida's 18th District expressed his support following the approval of H.R. 3944, the Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act. Franklin, a veteran and member of the House Appropriations Committee, highlighted the bill's significance for servicemembers, veterans, and their families.
Franklin stated: “As a veteran and member of the House Appropriations Committee, I take seriously our responsibility to care for the men and women who serve in defense of our nation. This spending bill reflects that enduring commitment. It delivers the essential resources our servicemembers, veterans and their families have earned while modernizing the infrastructure and support systems they rely on at home and abroad."
The legislation aims to enhance national security through strategic military construction in the Indo-Pacific region. It includes measures to prevent exploitation by adversaries such as the Chinese Communist Party. Furthermore, it seeks to improve healthcare funding for veterans and expand support for those facing mental health issues, suicidal thoughts, and homelessness.
Franklin emphasized: “The bill strengthens national security by advancing strategic military construction in the Indo-Pacific and reinforces safeguards to prevent adversaries like the Chinese Communist Party from exploiting federal resources. It also reaffirms our duty to veterans by fully funding health care and expanding support for those facing mental health challenges, suicidal thoughts and homelessness. These investments reflect a commitment to protect their well-being and quality of life after their service and sacrifice.”
The House of Representatives passed the measure with a vote count of 218-206.
