Kenneth Jerome Riley was born on August 6, 1947, in Bartow, Florida. He grew up there and played high school football at Union Academy. Riley played college football as a quarterback at Florida A&M University before joining the Cincinnati Bengals in 1969. Converted to cornerback, he spent his entire 15-year professional career with the Bengals, recording 65 interceptions, ranking fourth all-time at his retirement. Despite this, he was never selected for the Pro Bowl but made three All-Pro teams. After retiring in 1983, Riley coached and served as athletic director at Florida A&M. He returned to Bartow later in life. Riley was posthumously inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2023. His career and connection to Bartow reflect a steady, consistent presence in football at both local and professional levels. He passed away in 2020 at age 72.
