Congressman Scott Franklin, who represents Florida’s 18th district in the U.S. Congress, recently used his social media platform to comment on legislative actions and recognize community members. Franklin, a former member of the Florida House of Representatives and a graduate of the United States Naval Academy, has served in Congress since 2021.
On September 19, 2025, Franklin announced the passage of a government funding measure by stating, "The House just passed a clean continuing resolution to fund government responsibly and rein in wasteful spending. My statement below. https://t.co/ETk9Zymxw3".
Later that day, he acknowledged the contributions of transportation workers during an appreciation week: "This #TruckDriverAppreciationWeek, we honor the men and women who deliver the goods that fuel our economy and support our daily lives. Thank you for your hard work and dedication! https://t.co/nWztdXipS7" (September 19, 2025).
On September 22, 2025, Franklin highlighted local law enforcement service with a message about Sgt. Charlie Fountain: "Sgt. Charlie Fountain dedicated 50 years to serving and protecting Polk County with the @PolkCoSheriff. His leadership and example have earned him the respect of colleagues and community alike. Congratulations on a well-deserved recognition of a remarkable career! https://t.co/Fx3IT6M2rY".
Franklin was born in Thomaston, Georgia in 1964 and currently resides in Lakeland at age 58. He holds degrees from both the United States Naval Academy (1986) and Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University (1994). He succeeded Ross Spano as representative for Florida’s 18th district beginning in 2021.
