Congressman Scott Franklin, who represents Florida’s 18th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of messages on his official social media account addressing recent political developments, religious observances, and military heritage.

On October 1, 2025, Franklin commented on the ongoing government shutdown, attributing responsibility to Democratic lawmakers. He stated, "This shutdown was avoidable. @HouseGOP passed a clean CR weeks ago to keep the government open. Democrats rejected it, twice, proving they’d rather play politics than protect the American people. The consequences are real and will be felt by millions across the country."

Later that day, Franklin acknowledged Yom Kippur with a message directed at those observing the holiday: "As Yom Kippur begins, I wish a meaningful fast to all observing. May this day of reflection bring peace and renewal for the year ahead." (October 1, 2025).

On October 2, 2025, Franklin highlighted a local institution dedicated to military history: "The Military Sea Service Museum in Sebring is a special place that honors the proud traditions of our sea services. This year, as we recognize 250 years of the Navy and Marine Corps, it’s a reminder of the sacrifice and service that keep America strong."

Franklin has served in Congress since replacing Ross Spano in 2021 and previously held office in the Florida House of Representatives. Born in Thomaston, Georgia in 1964 and currently residing in Lakeland at age 58, he holds degrees from both the United States Naval Academy (1986) and Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University (1994).
