Congressman Scott Franklin, who represents Florida’s 18th district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of updates on social media highlighting community events and legislative developments.
On October 3, 2025, Franklin shared his appreciation for those who participated in a local event: "ICYMI: The 3rd annual Vet Fest was a huge success! Thank you to everyone who came out to support America’s heroes. Check it out https://t.co/JBp1moDp7d".
Later that day, he praised a local business organization for its contributions to the area, stating on October 3, 2025: "The Avon Park Chamber of Commerce does great work uniting folks and strengthening our community. Grateful for all they do in Highlands County! https://t.co/xMd53tuvwt".
On October 4, 2025, Franklin addressed the implications of a recent government shutdown affecting flood insurance programs: "This shutdown means the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) lapsed on September 30th. The House passed a clean funding bill that included an extension of the NFIP, but Senate Dems blocked it. This lapse will have immediate, real-world consequences, especially in Florida. https://t.co/AcBX8Tc1ok".
Scott Franklin has represented Florida’s 18th district since replacing Ross Spano in 2021 and previously served in the Florida House of Representatives. He was born in Thomaston, Georgia in 1964 and resides in Lakeland at age 58. Franklin is also an alumnus of both the United States Naval Academy and Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University.
