Congressman Scott Franklin, who represents Florida’s 18th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently addressed several issues affecting his constituents and broader national interests through a series of posts on social media.
On October 8, 2025, Franklin highlighted concerns regarding federal support for Florida's specialty crop producers. He stated, "Florida farmers help feed America, but specialty crop producers are routinely left out of USDA economic aid. Together with @RepKatCammack & our Florida colleagues, I’m urging USDA to ensure our growers get the same access to direct payments and support as row-crop producers."
Later that day, Franklin commented on global financial trends, posting, "Foreign central banks’ gold now exceeds U.S. Treasuries for the first time since 1996." The post referenced data from Visual Capitalist.
On October 9, 2025, Franklin announced funding for emergency services in his district: "Pleased to see $5 million headed to Highlands and Okeechobee County to support our firefighters and first responders. This is a major investment in public safety and emergency preparedness. Grateful to CFO Blaise Ingoglia for championing efforts to keep FL-18 better prepared."
Franklin has served in Congress since 2021 after replacing Ross Spano and previously held office in the Florida House of Representatives. Born in Thomaston, Georgia in 1964, he currently resides in Lakeland and is an alumnus of both the United States Naval Academy and Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University.
