CITY OF LAKE WALES: Update regarding work at the HWY 27/SR 60 interchange..

Construction

City of Lake Wales issued the following announcement on July 24

Some of the work has begun on improvements to this interchange including removal of trees to put in sidewalks.

Central Avenue will be receiving new drainage features, curb, guardrail,  sidewalk, and retaining wall with a pedestrian railing. These new features created an additional construction envelope of approximately twenty-four feet towards the lake from the existing roadway encompassing the location of the trees. Since the trees were to be removed during construction it was agreed to go ahead and remove them. This will permit the contractor to place the sanitary line underneath the sidewalk at this location prior to construction.

The City’s Utilities department is currently moving the forcemain sewer line on Central Avenue in anticipation of the roadway work and that is why the trees are being removed now rather than later.

The FDOT Central Florida will be hosting a virtual “Town Hall” meeting in August for residents who have questions and concerns.

They are creating a website that residents can visit for a project overview and FAQ.

FDOT will be in the area for the next 4 years completing the realignment of the interchange at Hwy 27 and SR 60.
