CITY OF MULBERRY: Polk County Housing Assistance program up to $5,000 on Delinquent Rent and Mortgage

City of Mulberry issued the following announcement on Dec. 15

Polk County will be launching another housing assistance program which should appear on County’s website by tomorrow (December 15). Funding is limited to about 700 Polk County residents (excluding City of Lakeland due to them having CDBG-CV funds). The program requirements are below. This information can be shared. Thank you

On December 29th, Polk County residents can apply for assistance on delinquent rent/mortgage payments due to layoffs/furloughs caused by the coronavirus pandemic. The program will pay directly to landlords, property management and mortgage companies on behalf of qualifying Polk County residents. Only one household per address and assistance for delinquent payments at the time of application (no future payments). If approved for CRF Mortgage & Rental Program cannot apply for CDBG assistance program.  www.polk-county.net

Eligibility Requirements:

• A current resident of Polk County (excluding  those within the city limits of Lakeland)

• Have a loss or reduction of income, loss of employment or health related issues due to COVID-19

• Currently delinquent on rent or mortgage payment

• Current gross household income is below 80% of area median income based on household size 

Required documents at time of application:

1. Florida Driver License for applicant and co-applicant

2. Provide proof of loss due to COVID-19

3. Current lease or mortgage statement in applicant’s/co-applicant’s name

4. Current utility bill (water or electric)

5. Current bank statement

6. Most recent paystub or unemployment letter

7. W-9 form from your landlord, property manager or mortgage company
