City Of Lakeland issued the following announcement on May 28.
Lakefront Friday!
Earth Day has come and gone, but the efforts of lake and roadway cleanup volunteers, along with their valuable impact in our community, continue on! A huge THANK YOU goes out to volunteers from Keep Lakeland Beautiful Inc, Venue Salon, Owl’s Nest Sanctuary for Wildlife, Kerry, and the GFWC Junior Woman’s Club of Lakeland!
These groups joined in on the recent Earth Day celebration by generously volunteering their time to help provide a cleaner environment that we can all enjoy! Lake Parker, Lake Somerset, Lake Beulah and New Jersey Road are much cleaner spaces and you’ll notice a lot less litter in these areas thanks to them! The volunteers from these organizations make an incredible difference in our community and they are committed to being exceptional environmental stewards!
That’s right, their commitment extends well beyond Earth Day by continuing to clean up litter during the rest of the year too! So let’s Give a Hoot and Don’t pollute because Only Rain Goes Down the Storm Drain! Let’s Be Litter Free because Every Litter Bit Hurts! The Earth is Not Your Garbage Can and There is No Planet B!
If you are interested in participating in the Adopt-a-Lake or Adopt-a-Road program, please contact the Lakes and Stormwater Division at 863-834-3328 or email Sandra Pope at sandra.pope@lakelandgov.net.
