Congressman Scott Franklin, who has been serving Florida's 18th district in the U.S. Congress since 2021, recently shared his thoughts on Black History Month and the fentanyl crisis through a series of tweets. Franklin succeeded Ross Spano and has previously served in the Florida House of Representatives.

On February 6, 2025, Congressman Franklin acknowledged Black History Month by stating: "During #BlackHistoryMonth, we recognize and honor those whose contributions serve as an example for all Americans. From trailblazers in the fight for civil rights to innovators who’ve shaped our culture, their legacies remind us of the power of perseverance."

Later that day, he addressed a critical issue facing Florida regarding drug enforcement: "Florida leads the nation in fentanyl seizures, a tragic statistic. Last year, @PolkCoSheriff apprehended enough to kill every person in our state." He expressed his support for legislative action by adding: "That’s why I’m voting for #HR27 to permanently classify fentanyl related substances as Schedule I drugs."

In another tweet from February 6, Franklin emphasized the urgency of addressing the ongoing drug crisis: "The Fentanyl crisis is destroying families and communities. We must stop it from claiming more American lives." He further noted his involvement with recent legislation aimed at tackling this issue: "My statement on today's House passage of H.R. 27, the HALT Fentanyl Act"
