Congressman Scott Franklin, a retired Naval Aviator and representative of Florida’s 18th district, has shared several statements via social media concerning recent events and policies. These posts reflect his ongoing commitment to veterans' affairs, accountability in disaster response, and remembrance of tragic incidents.
On March 6, 2025, Franklin expressed his sentiments regarding the House's passage of H.Res.153. "As a retired Naval Aviator, I’m glad the House passed H.Res.153 to honor the lives lost in the midair collision of American Eagle Flight 5342 and PAT 25," he wrote. He also extended his condolences to those affected by this tragedy.
The following day, on March 7, Franklin addressed issues within FEMA related to political bias during disaster relief efforts. "Three FEMA supervisors were fired after my colleagues & I demanded accountability following reports of personnel avoiding homes in FL-18 & other areas w/pro-Trump signs during the 2024 hurricane response," he stated. He noted that these actions underscore the importance of impartiality in emergency services.
Later on March 7, Congressman Franklin highlighted a vision for reforming the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). "The VA exists to serve the needs of veterans, not to employ as many people as possible," he emphasized. He directed followers to watch an explanation from Secretary Denis McDonough regarding improvements intended for veteran services.
