Congressman Scott Franklin has announced his support for the HALT Fentanyl Act, which recently passed in the House of Representatives with a vote of 312-108. The legislation aims to equip law enforcement with the necessary tools to combat fentanyl trafficking by permanently classifying fentanyl-related substances as Schedule I drugs.

Franklin expressed concern over what he described as "Biden’s disastrous border policies" that have allegedly facilitated increased trafficking of fentanyl into the United States. He highlighted Florida's significant impact, noting that it leads the nation in fentanyl seizures. He referenced a major operation led by Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, which resulted in one of the largest fentanyl busts in U.S. history.

"The HALT Fentanyl Act helps give law enforcement on the front lines the tools they need to keep this poison off our streets and prevent further senseless loss," Franklin stated. He called upon the Senate to act quickly in passing this measure.
