Scott Franklin discusses tax reform, infrastructure and aviation safety in recent meetings

Congressman Scott Franklin, currently representing Florida's 18th district in the U.S. Congress, recently took to social media to discuss his engagements with different local bodies in Florida. Franklin shared details about his meetings and discussions in a series of posts on Twitter, addressing topics related to insurance, water infrastructure, and aviation safety.

On May 1, 2025, Franklin highlighted his meeting with the Florida Association of Insurance Agents. Reflecting on his background in the insurance industry and his service on the FAIA board, Franklin expressed his satisfaction over the discussions, stating, "As someone who spent years in the insurance industry and served on the FAIA board, it’s always a pleasure to meet with the Florida Association of Insurance Agents. We had a productive conversation on tax reform, disaster mitigation and crop insurance."

Later the same day, Franklin reported on his dialogue with the Polk County Board of County Commissioners concerning essential water infrastructure needs. Referring to his role on the House Appropriations Energy and Water Subcommittee, Franklin assured that local priorities would be advocated for, noting that "Had a good discussion on critical water infrastructure needs with the Polk County Board of County Commissioners yesterday. As a member of @HouseAppropsGOP Energy and Water Subcommittee, I’m working to ensure our local priorities receive the federal support they deserve."

On May 2, 2025, Congressman Franklin spoke about a meeting with the City of Winter Haven officials. The focus was on airport modernization and aviation safety, aiming to maintain Florida's leadership in next-generation air traffic technology. Franklin summarized the meeting, "Great meeting with City of Winter Haven officials to discuss airport modernization and aviation safety. Together, we’re working to keep Florida at the forefront of next-gen air traffic technology!"

Scott Franklin has a considerable history in public service and the insurance industry. Born in Thomaston, Georgia in 1964, Franklin resides in Lakeland and has served in the U.S. Congress since 2021, succeeding Ross Spano. He holds degrees from the United States Naval Academy and Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University.
