Congressman Scott Franklin, representing Florida's 18th district, recently shared a series of statements on social media regarding national security, historical commemoration, and disaster relief for agricultural workers. Franklin has been serving in the U.S. Congress since 2021 after replacing Ross Spano and previously served in the Florida House of Representatives.

On May 8, 2025, Congressman Franklin expressed concerns about foreign influence within domestic operations by stating that "The Chinese Communist Party has no business embedding itself in our homeland security operations." He noted his support for HR 881 to eliminate Confucius Institutes linked to the CCP and prevent partnerships between the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and entities associated with the Chinese government. He emphasized that "Our national security must come first."

In another statement on the same day, Franklin commemorated a significant historical event: "80 years ago today, victory was declared in Europe." He paid tribute to what he referred to as "the Greatest Generation," acknowledging their role in ending tyranny and securing freedom for millions during World War II. Citing General Eisenhower’s words, “The eyes of the world are upon you,” Franklin remarked that their legacy continues through cherished liberties.

Additionally, Congressman Franklin addressed local constituents with information relevant to agriculture. In a post directed at Florida farmers and ranchers, he announced that "@USDA just released 2023/2024 Supplemental Disaster Relief info" which is aimed at those who suffered losses due to natural disasters such as hurricanes and droughts. He provided resources for more detailed program information and important dates.

Scott Franklin was born in Thomaston, Georgia in 1964 and currently resides in Lakeland. A graduate of both the United States Naval Academy and Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University, he brings a diverse background to his role in Congress.
