Congressman Scott Franklin, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Florida's 18th district since 2021, shared his insights on various topics through a series of tweets. Franklin, a former member of the Florida House of Representatives and a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University, addressed issues ranging from energy demand to military family support and small business resilience.
On May 8, 2025, Congressman Franklin discussed his participation in an Energy & Water hearing with the House Appropriations Committee. He stated: "During yesterday’s @HouseAppropsGOP Energy & Water hearing, I asked @SecretaryWright how DOE plans to keep up with skyrocketing energy demand driven by AI, EVs & data centers, especially in fast-growing states like Florida. Enjoyed hearing his insights and look forward to". The congressman expressed interest in understanding how the Department of Energy plans to address increasing energy needs.
The following day, May 9, 2025, Franklin reflected on his experience in the U.S. Navy by highlighting the contributions of military spouses. He tweeted: "After 26 years in the U.S. Navy, I can tell you—military spouses serve too. They hold the line at home, carry the weight of long deployments and keep families strong. Their strength is the quiet force behind every mission." This acknowledgment underscores his appreciation for their crucial role within military families.
Later that same day, Congressman Franklin turned his attention to small businesses during Small Business Week. He wrote: "It takes grit to build something from the ground up. This #SmallBusinessWeek, we celebrate the resilience and impact of thousands of small businesses in FL-18 that help power local jobs and keep our economy strong." His message emphasized both recognition and support for small businesses as vital components of economic stability.
Scott Franklin was born in Thomaston, Georgia in 1964 and currently resides in Lakeland.
