Congressman Scott Franklin, representing Florida's 18th district since 2021, has shared several updates on recent developments via his social media account. Born in Thomaston, Georgia in 1964 and currently residing in Lakeland, Franklin is an alumnus of the United States Naval Academy and Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University.

On May 9, 2025, Congressman Franklin announced a significant policy change regarding American technology leadership. He stated that "@POTUS is rescinding Biden’s reckless AI chip export rule, protecting national security and keeping China in check." He expressed his support for this action alongside Representative McCormick.

Later that day, Franklin addressed issues facing Florida's agricultural sector. In a tweet from May 9, he highlighted the challenges faced by farmers due to recent hurricanes. He noted that "Florida isn’t just beaches and theme parks—we’re a top ag state and our farmers are hurting." Following inquiries to Secretary Rollins regarding disaster aid from the USDA, Franklin emphasized the need for timely relief for Floridians affected by these natural disasters.

On May 10, Franklin shared his experience visiting the United States Naval Academy with his DC staff. He mentioned meeting with Vice Admiral Davids, the USNA Superintendent. Reflecting on their shared history at the academy, he remarked: "Fun Fact: We were midshipmen here at the same time!"

Scott Franklin has been serving as a U.S. Congressman since replacing Ross Spano in 2021. Before his congressional tenure, he served in the Florida House of Representatives.
