Congressman Scott Franklin, representing Florida's 18th district since 2021, recently shared several updates on social media. These posts reflect his views and activities concerning international issues, educational commitments, and law enforcement recognition.
On May 13, Franklin expressed his relief over the release of Edan Alexander from Hamas captivity. He stated, "Very happy to see Edan Alexander safely released from Hamas captivity—his freedom is long overdue. Every hostage must be set free and Hamas must be held accountable for the atrocities of October 7."
The following day, May 14, Franklin highlighted his appreciation for students embarking on military careers. As a Naval Academy graduate himself, he noted the significance of this path by stating, "As a Naval Academy graduate, I understand the weight of the honor and responsibility that comes with a U.S. Service Academy appointment." He recognized outstanding students from Florida's 18th district who are preparing for similar journeys.
Later on May 14, Franklin attended a prayer vigil honoring fallen law enforcement officers. Reflecting on this event with Speaker Johnson and fellow GOP colleagues, he remarked, "Humbled to join @SpeakerJohnson and my @HouseGOP colleagues at last night’s prayer vigil honoring our nation’s law enforcement officers who gave their lives in the line of duty." He emphasized the importance of remembering their sacrifices for freedom and safety.
Scott Franklin was born in Thomaston, Georgia in 1964 and currently resides in Lakeland. Before serving in Congress, he was part of the Florida House of Representatives. His educational background includes graduating from the United States Naval Academy in 1986 and later from Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University in 1994.
