Congressman Scott Franklin, representing Florida's 18th district since 2021, has recently shared his views on several issues through social media. His statements cover topics ranging from national security to local agriculture.
On June 2, 2025, Congressman Franklin addressed concerns about foreign students studying in the United States. He emphasized the importance of transparency regarding any connections these students might have with hostile regimes. "If you're coming to study in the US, we have every right to know if you're tied to a hostile regime. No more hiding behind student visas. This is about defending our homeland & protecting campuses from becoming breeding grounds for espionage & terrorism."
Later that day, Franklin commented on an attack in Boulder, Colorado, which he described as a targeted act of terror against supporters of Israel. He called for accountability and condemned antisemitism in America. "The attack in Boulder, CO was a targeted act of terror against those standing with Israel. We must ensure those responsible are held fully accountable. Antisemitism has no place in America."
On June 3, 2025, Franklin turned his attention to local matters by praising dairy farmers within his district for their contributions to Florida's agriculture and economy. He highlighted the role these families play in maintaining stocked grocery shelves and supporting economic stability across regions such as Polk and Okeechobee counties. "Dairy farmers are critical to Florida agriculture and we’ve got some of the best right here in FL-18. From Polk to Okeechobee, these hardworking families keep our grocery shelves stocked and our economy strong!"
Scott Franklin was born in Thomaston, Georgia in 1964 and currently resides in Lakeland. A graduate of the United States Naval Academy and Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University, he previously served in the Florida House of Representatives before succeeding Ross Spano as U.S Congress member.
