Congressman Scott Franklin, representing Florida's 18th district since 2021, recently shared his views on various political matters through a series of tweets. Franklin, who has a background in the U.S. Navy and previous experience in the Florida House of Representatives, voiced his opinions on state governance and federal spending.
On June 12, 2025, Congressman Franklin commented on the political maneuvers of certain state governors. He stated: "Now that Deep Blue State governors want to run for president, they’re suddenly backtracking on their failed policies. Too late. @POTUS & House Republicans are putting ALL of America First." This tweet was part of his critique regarding the policies implemented by Democratic governors.
Later that day, Franklin emphasized his dedication to military and veteran affairs as a member of the House Appropriations Committee. He highlighted the importance of supporting those who serve in the military: "As a veteran and member of @HouseAppropsGOP, I take our commitment to those who serve seriously." He detailed that the Fiscal Year 2026 Military Construction-VA appropriations bill aims to enhance VA healthcare programs and improve infrastructure.
In another post from June 12, Franklin announced legislative progress related to government expenditure: "The House just passed H.R. 4 to roll back $9.4B in wasteful government programs." He stressed that this bill prioritizes taxpayers by reducing what he described as reckless spending.
Scott Franklin was born in Thomaston, Georgia in 1964 and currently resides in Lakeland. A graduate of both the United States Naval Academy and Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University, he brings a diverse background to his congressional role.
