Congressman Scott Franklin from Florida's 18th district expressed his support following the House's approval of H.R. 1, known as the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. The bill is now awaiting President Trump's signature.
Franklin described the legislation as a significant achievement: “Today’s final House passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act marks a major milestone in delivering on the results the American people voted for. With both chambers of Congress having approved the bill, it now heads to President Trump’s desk for his signature."
He acknowledged the challenges faced during its development: “This landmark legislation is the result of months of hard work, negotiation, and determination. Despite repeated stalling tactics by House Democrats aimed at delaying or derailing the process, congressional Republicans stayed focused and got the job done—passing the bill ahead of the July 4th deadline, just as we promised."
The act aims to provide various benefits including tax relief and reforms that affect working families, seniors, and small businesses. Franklin noted: “While no bill is perfect, this one delivers meaningful progress on the issues that matter most to hardworking Americans. It provides critical tax relief to working families and seniors, expands the child tax credit, and introduces significant deductions for tip income and overtime pay."
In addition to economic measures, Franklin highlighted savings through reforms in Medicaid and SNAP: “Importantly, the bill achieves over $1 trillion in long-term savings through targeted reforms to Medicaid and SNAP—reducing fraud, encouraging work, and helping safeguard the future of these essential programs."
National defense and border security are also addressed in this legislation: “The bill also strengthens our national defense, reinforces border security, and closes loopholes that allowed illegal immigrants to access taxpayer-funded benefits."
Franklin concluded with optimism about America's future under current leadership: “It’s morning in America again. The people asked for a new direction. And under President Trump’s leadership, we are delivering on that promise.”
