Congressman Scott Franklin, who represents Florida’s 18th district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared a series of posts on social media addressing legislative actions and commemorative events.
On July 24, 2025, Franklin expressed his support for the latest national security and State Department funding bill, stating: "Proud to support the FY26 National Security & State Dept. funding bill in @HouseAppropsGOP this week. It counters threats from China and Iran, and cuts wasteful spending—keeping America strong at home and abroad. https://t.co/Eq0geykv9h"
The following day, July 25, he highlighted efforts to improve retirement benefits for wildland firefighters: "Wildland firefighters have high-risk jobs but aren't eligible for the same retirement benefits as other federal workers. That's why @RepJoshHarder & I reintroduced our bill to ensure they get retirement credit for every year on the job. It's a simple fix to end an unfair rule."
On July 27, Franklin marked the anniversary of the Korean War armistice with a tribute post: "71 years ago, the Korean War armistice was signed, ending what’s too often called the “Forgotten War.” Today, we honor the veterans of that conflict and remember over 36,000 Americans who gave their lives. Their service was not in vain and will never be forgotten. https://t.co/jDyaQYAHfH"
Franklin has served as Florida’s representative since 2021 after replacing Ross Spano in Congress. Before his tenure in Washington D.C., he was a member of the Florida House of Representatives. Born in Thomaston, Georgia in 1964 and now residing in Lakeland at age 58, Franklin is also a graduate of both the United States Naval Academy (1986) and Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University (1994).
