Congressman Scott Franklin, who represents Florida’s 18th district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing both local safety concerns and federal legislative developments.

On July 29, 2025, Franklin commented on an unfolding situation near the University of Florida. He wrote, "Praying for everyone affected by the developing situation near the University of Florida. Grateful for the swift response from law enforcement working to keep students, faculty and the community safe."

Later that day, Franklin discussed legislative action in Congress regarding environmental policy. In a post dated July 29, 2025, he stated, "Last week, we passed the FY26 Interior & Environment bill in @HouseAppropsGOP. Big wins for American energy, public land access & reining in reckless spending

$2.5B cut

Blocks Biden’s green agenda

Prioritizes U.S. minerals over China’s"

On July 30, 2025, Franklin addressed recent changes at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), writing: "The EPA’s job is to protect our air & water, not weaponize regulations against hardworking Americans. I commend @epaleezeldin & @SecretaryWright for rescinding Obama’s wildly overreaching endangerment ruling & returning the EPA to its core mission."

Scott Franklin has represented Florida's 18th district since replacing Ross Spano in Congress in 2021 and previously served in the Florida House of Representatives. Born in Thomaston, Georgia in 1964 and currently residing in Lakeland, Franklin is a graduate of both the United States Naval Academy and Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University.
