Congressman Scott Franklin, who represents Florida’s 18th district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared several updates related to veterans and national remembrance days on his social media account.
On August 14, 2025, Franklin highlighted his team's engagement with local veterans at a community event: "Team Franklin was pleased to share details about our upcoming VETFEST with local veterans at the Polk County Veterans Council meeting. Celebrating 25 years of service this year, the Council continues to be an asset to our community and the veterans it serves."
The following day, on August 15, 2025, Franklin commemorated Victory over Japan Day (V-J Day), marking the end of World War II in the Pacific: "On V-J Day, we honor the courage, sacrifice and unwavering resolve of the Greatest Generation. Their victory in the Pacific in WWII secured peace and preserved freedom around the world."
Later that same day, Franklin addressed issues concerning veterans' services within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA): "Veterans deserve a VA that puts them first, not union bosses. Ending these wasteful contracts will save millions, reclaim 750,000 hours and refocus the VA on serving those who wore the uniform. Accountability is back!"
Scott Franklin has represented Florida’s 18th District in Congress since 2021 after succeeding Ross Spano. He previously served in the Florida House of Representatives and has a background as a graduate of both the United States Naval Academy and Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University. Born in Thomaston, Georgia in 1964, Franklin currently resides in Lakeland.
